We now get our African Black soap from a company called Baraka.  Baraka means “thank you” in Wali, a Ghanaian language with approximately one hundred and forty thousand speakers in north-western Ghana.  From the founders of Baraka: "Every purchase of Baraka Shea Butter has a direct impact on hard-working women and families in northern Ghana. We believe in creating value chains that make a difference, from the women who make Baraka Shea Butter [and African Black Soap] all the way through to the consumers who use products made from it.

We actively work to educate our entire value chain and help our customers integrate the community impact into their marketing and promotions. This can help their business and help their customers understand the important impact shea butter has on the women and families that make it."

African Black Soap has been used for centuries to keep skin and hair healthy. It is growing in popularity as more people around the world experience the results of its luxurious lather and restorative properties.

Made from natural ingredients, our black soap has a wide range of benefits for your skin.

  1. Anti-inflammatory

Rich in vitamins A & E, black soap is anti-inflammatory. This helps to soothe skin and can be beneficial to those with inflammatory skin conditions such as rosacea.

  1. Nourishing

Black soap is full of hydrating ingredients like shea butter and coconut oil to keep your skin moisturized, healthy and happy.

  1. Natural Exfoliant

While using the bar, the skin is manually exfoliated to remove dead skin cells. The result? Softer, smoother skin.

  1. Gentle for All Skin Types

With just plant-based ingredients and no synthetic chemical fragrances, black soap is suitable for all skin types.

        5. Antibacterial

Black soap is a good natural alternative to chemical-based cleansers. The soap effectively removes bacteria and dirt from the skin.

         6.  Soothes Razor Bumps

Ingrown hairs and razor burn can be frustrating to deal with. The exfoliating aspect of the bar can help free trapped hairs, whilst the high shea butter content soothes and moisturizes the skin.

         7. Multi-Use

Black soap can be used on your face, body or even your hair as a shampoo. It’s great for travel as you only need to bring one product.

         8. Sustainable

Black soap uses by-products from shea butter production, including natural lye sourced from the ashes, making it a truly circular economy product. The soap also uses minimal packaging and is long-lasting, reducing your plastic consumption.

         9. Supports Hard-Working Women

Baraka’s black soap is handmade by Ghanaian women using age-old techniques passed down through generations. Every purchase makes a direct impact on communities in Ghana.
