Also known as Rambiazana Oil is also commonly called by the Latin name, Helichrysum gymnocephalum. Like Italian Helichrysum it is also referred to as Immortelle. Although, along with 600 other species, it is a member of the Asteraceae Family it is completely different than the Helichrysum from the Mediterranean region. Rambiazana Oil has high cineol content (up to 73 percent) and that eucalyptus-like, penetrating aroma prevails. However, it is more complex. Distinct nuances become apparent in the dry out. Studies show antimicrobial potential against sarcina lutea and staphylococcus. See Boiteau, 1986 and Debray et al. 1971 for additional information about traditional medical uses.
Helichrysum gymnocephalum essential oil, admired for upper respiratory relief, is also said to be able to reduce pain and tension in the upper torso. Very different to Helichrysum italicum, known for skin and wound care, Helichrysum gymnocephalum is said to be powerful for use in a diffuser or oil warmer with cold, flu, congestion, and headaches.
